Poddar Brio International school, hosted the much-awaited 8 th Annual Sports Meet with great ardour and zeal for two consecutive days, on 17 th and 18 th December 2022.It was a splendid occasion for pre -primary, primary, secondary and senior secondary students to showcase their speed and agility on the field.
The Chief Guest of this grand event was Mr. Govind Prasad, Chief Petty Officer (Retd) Indian Navy. Ms Reshma Subhash Rathod and Shri Bipin Sonawane. Shri Pandharinath Maskari and Ms. Meenal Vasudev Bhoir were the guest of honor. Other prominent dignitaries who graced the occasion included the Directors Shri A K Singh and Mr. Satish Kumar Singh, our Principal Mrs. Rashmi Singh, Sr Vice Principal Mr. Antony D’Souza, Head Mistress. Mrs. Philomena D’Souza Faculty coordinators, teachers’ students and parents.
The function was consecrated with the rendition of school prayer. The school choir performed a spellbinding motivational song, leaving the gathering electrified and awe-struck.
A riveting march past by the disciplined team and office bearers of four houses along with the school band, displaying bold-hued attire marked the commencement of the event. The invigorating march past was followed by the release of colorful balloons declaring the sports meet open by the Chief Guest, Director and the Principal. Our Principal, felicitated the Chief Guest with a token of regard and extended a warm welcome to all present.
The lightning of torch and oath-taking ceremony was led by our Chief Guest reiterating the glory and honor of games and ethics.
The heartwarming display of Taekwondo and Gymnastic by Students of Grade 2 and 3 stressed upon the need to assert oneself, to break free from shackles and say no to bullying.
The Chief Guest, Mr. Govind Prasad, extended his greetings and congratulated the participants on their enthusiastic display of talent and spirit of sportsmanship. He appreciated the school management to encourage students and instill in them to pursue their goals with similar diligence and perseverance. He urged them to keep trying, stay fit and wished them luck for their future endeavors.
The event acquired enormous significance with the graceful presence of our Director, Shri A K Singh, Sir, appreciated and elaborated upon the importance of sports and extracurricular activities in the lives of students as they embark on their path to holistic development.
The students displayed a wide array of energetic and bouncy sports events ranging from the track events, school drill with hula hoops, balloons, dazzling aerobics, rhythmic ribbon dance and a pom-pom callisthenic drill, scintillating display of lezim and pyramid, enchanting everyone with their rhythmical movements. The super energetic young athletes raced to the cheers of the audience.
The most exciting part of this happening day was the TUG-O-WAR, it gave a chance to the students to display their house-spirits. Our school Mascot ‘Sheru’ drew the spectator’s attention and took the sports games to the next level.
The Chief Guest, Mr. Bipin Sonawane, addressed the audience, elaborating on how he considered obstacle races symbolic of obstacles and hurdles in life. Furthermore, he spoke about inculcating life skills through formal education, going on to say that he believed that life skills are explicitly derived from experience and cannot be imparted through classroom education.
Mr Pandharinath Maskari guest of honor extended his greetings and congratulated the participants and added that sporting events at the school level help a student to be physically and mentally fit. He emphasized his point through an anecdote.
The parents and teachers also got an opportunity to prove their physical fitness by participating in races. They proved that age is no bar for running and winning on the tracks.
Our Director Mr. Satish Singh exhorted the students with his best wishes.
Our Principal in her speech reminded that participation in sports goes beyond winning medals, and keeping fit. She reminded that sports is a unifying factor where we learn the important lesson of life, “Discipline”. Ma’am added that champions are not made overnight, but they are the one who overcome limitations and has the ability to absorb failure and plan to shape their future with strenuous efforts.
She described the event as a delightful experience and extended gratitude to the chief guest, parents, teachers and all participants for making the event a huge success. Trophies went out to the winning house. The overall winner of the sports day 2022-23 was Amber House. Captain of Amber house proudly came out to be presented with their trophy and displayed their pride by parading around the field.
The whole gathering with immense pride sung the National Anthem. Beating of the retreat marked the splendorous end of the day.
